It is not enough that the three horse slaughterhouses in the United States have been closed. Now we must further act by stopping the transportation of American horses to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered there for human consumption in other parts of the world. We Americans do not eat horses and we should not send them out of our country to be butchered and eaten by others.



The American public has overwhelmingly opposed the slaughter of America's horses for human consumption and now the courts have declared horse slaughter to be illegal. While horses will no longer be butchered in the U.S. they can be hauled under appalling conditions to a similarly brutal death in plants across the U.S. border. Congress must pass federal legislation to extend the protections to all horses and to send a clear message to those few who profit from this barbaric trade.

This post is a response to 9/11 truther Andrew Meyer being tasered by cops at University of Florida John Kerry speech. Andrew Meyer was grabbed by cops yesterday after he asked the former presidential candidate why he didn't challenge the rigged election of 2004 and about his membership of the skull and bones secret society. Meyer asked police what he was being arrested for as they dragged him to the back of the University Auditorium before manhandling him to the ground.

Only when Meyer was immobile and had five officers on top of him did the police decide to send 50,000 volts of electricity coursing through his prostrate body, seemingly waiting until Meyer begged them not to do it so as to enjoy the maximum power trip from administrating the torture

The police are now trained that "pain compliance," a euphemism for torture, is acceptable in apprehending anyone even if that person poses no physical danger.

The slaughter of horses has been banned in the United States, and the last operating horse slaughter plant, Cavel International, in Dekalb, IL, has been closed down by the U.S. Supreme Court!

REPEAL THE REAL ID ACT SIGNED INTO LAW BY BUSH ON 6/6/6 WHICH TAKES EFFECT ON 5/11/08 AND WHICH THREATENS OUR PRIVACY, SECURITY, AND IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE MARK OF THE BEAST WARNED OF IN THE BIBLE.



Urge your Senators to fix the civil liberties problems with the
REAL ID Act, a draconian proposal for a National ID card.


Here is the context of the letter which gets sent to your Senator:


"I am writing today to ask you to co-sponsor S. 717 "Identification Security Enhancement Act of 2007," introduced by Senators Daniel Akaka of Hawaii and John Sununu of New Hampshire. S 717 puts in place necessary reforms in the flawed REAL ID bill snuck through Congress in 2005.

REAL ID consolidates every state's DMV databases into one massive and vulnerable database. The potential for identity theft is enormous. Any disgruntled, rogue DMV employee would have access to the driving records and personal identifiers, such as copies of birth certificates and social security cards, of all the drivers in the country. These rogue employees could sell this info to identity thieves and data aggregators.

REAL ID is also a massive unfunded mandate for the states. The Department of Homeland Security itself estimates the cost of implementing REAL ID throughout the country to reach $23 billion, and the states were told to come up with the money themselves. Many states have already updated their driver's license systems and implementation of REAL ID would mean they would have to start from scratch and pay for it out of their own pockets. Naturally, much of the cost will be transferred to the driver, so people will have to show more evidence to prove their identities, pay upwards of $100 to obtain or renew their licenses, and also wait in vastly longer lines!

This poses the most trouble for the elderly who may have lost track of their birth certificates, Native Americans who live on reservations and the homeless who do not have street addresses, adopted children, naturalized citizens, and victims of natural disasters. The list goes on and on.

The states have already recognized that this will all amount to a real nightmare for Americans. Thirty states have introduced legislation to reject Real ID, and three states Arkansas, Idaho and Maine have enacted resolutions to opt out of the program altogether. The release of the Department of Homeland Security's draft regulations, which included a two-year extension of the compliance deadline, did nothing to stop the wave of state rebellion against this unfunded, misguided law. In fact, opposition to Real ID in the states continues to grow with each passing day."

I was ready to toss my hat in the ring with Mr. Barack Obama until now, but he does not support HR 676, Universal Single-Payer Healthcare Plan. Here is a description of HR 676:



BRIEF SUMMARY of H.R. 676

The U.S. National Health Insurance Act

Introduced by John Conyers, Jr., (D-Michigan) with 75 co-sponsors (as of 8/11/06)



Establishes an American-styled national health insurance program that would create a publicly financed, privately delivered health care program that uses the already existing Medicare program by expanding and improving it for all U.S. residents. This legislation is an example of a "single-payer" system, referring to the government, instead of multiple insurance companies and you, paying the health care bills. The providers remain private and we choose who to go to.
With close to 46 million uninsured and more than that underinsured, it is time to change our inefficient, costly, and fragmented health care system. An increasing number of Americans are paying more out-of-pocket or neglecting their health.
According to Dean Baker of the Center for Economic Research and Policy, using 2005 figures, HR 676 would save $56 billion in overall health care spending while covering all of the uninsured. Administrative costs would be reduced from 20-30% under the current insurance company system, to 3%, under Medicare. The profit margin in paying for health care costs would be eliminated. The government would negotiate for lower drug prices from the pharmaceutical companies, further lowering costs.
We would move away from our present system, where annual family premiums have increased to $11,000/year and more, depending on the plan. 95% of families would pay less for health care than they do today.
Under H.R. 676, a family of three making $40,000/year would spend approximately $1900/year or $150/month in taxes for excellent health care coverage, with no co pays, deductibles, or monthly premiums.
Under H.R. 676, employers currently providing health care benefits to their employees would pay much less in taxes for better coverage, making American businesses more competitive with foreign markets that have universal health care, while protecting the health and well-being of their employees.
Health Care Services Covered


Office visits, hospitalizations, emergency care, prescription drugs, medical equipment, long term care, mental health services, drug and alcohol treatment, dentistry, eye care, chiropractic services.



Proposed Funding


A modest payroll tax on all employers and employees of 3.3% each, in addition to the l.45% payroll tax that employers/ees are already paying, for a total of 4.75% each. A 5% health tax on the top 5% of income earners; 10% tax on richest 1%. A small tax on stock and bond transfers. Closing corporate tax loopholes and repealing the Bush tax cut for the highest 1% of income earners.

The Problem:

A Failed Private Insurance System that Puts Profits Ahead of Patients

The United States has the highest health spending in the world, yet 45 million Americans have no health insurance and millions more are under-insured and unable to access care. Illness and medical bills contribute to half of all U.S. bankruptcies. Prescription drug costs are the highest in the world. Even though other industrialized democracies spend less on health care, their citizens are guaranteed coverage for life, live longer, and have better access to care.

The Solution:

Non-Profit Single-Payer National Health Insurance

Americans spend more money for less coverage and care because we are the only industrialized country that allows for-profit insurance companies to be middlemen in our health system. In their drive to enroll healthy (and profitable) patients and screen out the sick, private insurers waste vast sums on billing, marketing, underwriting, utilization review and other activities that enhance profits but divert resources from care and hassle patients and physicians. The paperwork they inflict on doctors and hospitals and nurses wastes hundreds of billions more each year.

Replacing private insurance companies with a single-payer public program - "Medicare for All" - would save more than $350 billion per year by slashing bureaucracy, enough new money to provide guaranteed comprehensive health benefits for all. (New England Journal of Medicine, 2003

Here is the context of the Petition To Restore Habeas Corpus: A bipartisan amendment was introduced July 9 by Sens. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) that would fix the balance of power in our government by fully restoring habeas corpus. It is amended to the Defense Reauthorization Act for FY 2008. Our nation's values were undermined last year as a result of the Military Commissions Act, which includes a provision stripping the courts of their power to review why detainees are being held by the United States. This is your opportunity to correct this mistake. Please vote for the amendment to restore habeas corpus. Currently, detainees at Guantanamo - and elsewhere - are denied the right to contest the legality of their detention. The lack of independent judicial review of Guantanamo detentions is harming the reputation of our nation and undermining our system of checks and balances. As Justice Sandra Day O'Connor said in ruling against the President's earlier efforts to deny the courts any role regarding detainees, "A state of war is not a blank check for the President."
